What is Beluga?
Beluga makes short skits told entirely through fake Discord chats, starring a cat avatar in absurdist internet scenarios. The format is meme culture distilled for fast consumption.
Is Beluga appropriate for kids?
There is no profanity to speak of, the humor is deadpan absurdism with occasional dark edges played for irony. The consideration is cultural rather than explicit: the videos are dense with internet in-jokes and casually nihilistic punchlines that land differently below a certain age. Its short format and huge imitation scene make it a Shorts-feed staple.
Whether that fits your child is your call. If you decide to block the channel, here is how.
Block Beluga with Vidward
- 1Create your free Vidward account. The trial runs 7 days with no credit card.
- 2Add your child in the dashboard and link their computer by typing the one-time code into the Vidward extension in their browser.
- 3Open your child's Filters tab, search for Beluga and block the channel.
- 4Done. Beluga disappears from search, the home feed, recommendations and direct links in their browser, and every change you make syncs to their device.
Does YouTube have a built-in way to block a channel?
Not really. YouTube's "Don't recommend channel" option only trims the home feed. Beluga still shows up in search results, in Shorts and through direct links, and your child can undo the setting in two clicks. Restricted Mode filters some mature content but cannot target a specific channel. That gap is exactly what Vidward covers.
