Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 1, 2026

Vidward (“Vidward”, “we”, “us”) provides parental controls for YouTube through a browser extension and a parent dashboard. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Vidward, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Account information. When you create an account we collect your name and email address through our authentication provider. Passwords are managed by that provider and are never stored by us.
  • Child profiles. You create profiles for your children using a name you choose. You are not required to provide a child’s real name. Each profile gets an activation code used to link devices.
  • Rules and settings. The content rules, blocklists and settings you configure for each child.
  • Watch activity. When enabled, the extension reports the videos watched on your child’s linked device. We enrich video IDs with titles, channels and thumbnails via the YouTube Data API so you can review activity in the dashboard. You can turn history tracking off per child at any time.
  • Device information. Basic details about linked browsers — a device name, browser info, and when the device was last active.
  • Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by our third-party payment processor. We receive limited billing details (such as your subscription status) but never receive or store full payment card numbers.
  • Technical data. Limited technical information such as IP addresses (used for security and rate-limiting) and basic request logs.

How we use information

  • Provide, maintain and secure the service.
  • Enforce the rules you set on your child’s device.
  • Show you watch history and activity.
  • Process subscriptions and manage billing.
  • Protect against abuse (for example, rate-limiting device linking).
  • Respond to support requests and send service-related messages.

Children’s privacy

Vidward is designed to be set up and controlled by a parent or legal guardian. Accounts are for adults; children do not create accounts or interact with Vidward directly. Information about a child — a profile name you choose and the videos watched on a linked device — is collected at your direction and solely to provide the monitoring and filtering features you have enabled. As the parent, you can view and delete all information associated with a child at any time by removing the child’s profile, which permanently deletes the associated rules, devices and watch history. If you believe we have collected information other than as described here, contact us at support@vidward.app.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us operate Vidward:

  • Authentication — account sign-in and management.
  • Payments — our payment processor handles subscriptions and billing.
  • YouTube Data API (Google) — queried server-side to enrich watched-video metadata; our API key is never exposed to the extension or your child’s device.
  • Hosting & database — cloud infrastructure that runs the app and stores your data.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. Deleting a child’s profile permanently deletes its rules, devices and watch history. Deleting your account removes your personal data and all child profiles. You can request deletion at any time by contacting support@vidward.app.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal information. You can manage much of your data directly from the dashboard, or contact us to make a request.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to operate the dashboard. We do not use advertising cookies.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your family’s data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above and, where appropriate, by notifying you.
