The videos behind this demonstration passed their 30 day refresh window, so we removed them. We store YouTube titles and thumbnails only for as long as the API terms allow. The method and the point it makes are below, and the path returns when we rebuild the snapshot.
What this shows
A short set of checked links can move from young child content to streamer and challenge channels. When the path is up, every step uses a real public video.
What this cannot show
This is not a record of what YouTube served. There is no public API for real recommendations or a server side view of a child’s autoplay chain.
Break the pattern
Use the controls that fit the screen
YouTube’s controls can remove one named channel or the Shorts feed. They do not block this whole path.
Turn autoplay off
This stops YouTube from starting the next video on its own. Vidward can keep autoplay off for a linked child browser.
Use Family Link
Since March 2026, Family Link can set a supervised account’s daily Shorts feed limit to zero. A supervised account can also block a named channel.
Hide Shorts
Vidward can hide Shorts in a supported desktop browser and block exact channels with parent set rules.
Questions about the demonstration
Is this a YouTube recommendation path?
No. YouTube does not publish recommendation data. We chose each hop from the related list in our checked channel registry.
Where did the videos go?
We removed them. Stored YouTube titles and thumbnails are kept only as long as the API terms allow, and this snapshot passed that window. The path returns when we rebuild it.
How did Vidward choose each hop?
Our team maintains a checked registry of channels. Each channel names a short list of related channels, and the tool follows those links across content groups.
How fresh is the video data?
There is none right now. The last snapshot reached 30 days old and we removed it, which is the rule we follow for stored YouTube API data.
Does made for kids mean a channel fits every child?
No. Made for kids is a channel setting from YouTube. It is not an age rating for each upload.
Which YouTube controls can help?
Turn autoplay off. A supervised account can block a named channel. Since March 2026, Family Link can also set the daily Shorts feed limit to zero.
